Auto Locator Prevents Theft of Vehicles

By Jame Geerdes

An automobile locator comes in a few major forms, most notably that of theft technologies. You would be surprised to know that some stolen vehicles that had automobile locator technology installed in it had been discovered on the other side of the country.

The automobile locator system typically involves a device placed on a secret location on a vehicle and then matched to the VIN number of the car or truck. That information is forwarded to authorities. In the event of a theft, the owner would contact either the authorities or the automobile locator agency. The agency would send a signal to the device placed on the car, and that device would then begin sending out signals in short frequency bursts.

Those signals would be picked up by police cars, and by the formation of those signals, the authorities would be able to identify the make, model, color and year of the car in question. Additionally, helicopters, airplanes and other aerial vehicles would be able to identify the stolen car and safely bring it into custody.

There are obviously inherent risks linked with automobile locator systems, 1 of which is most notably known as jamming devices. There are currently jamming devices in existence that will disrupt communications in a radius of up to two hundred meters. Other functions of automobile locator jamming devices occur on the battlefield when 1 side attempts to disrupt the communications of their opponent.

In both instances, the signal sent out of the vehicle is disrupted to ensure that when it's unrecognizable once it reaches headquarters. To combat these jamming devices, function has been done to create descramblers. Cryptographers and engineers are still working on creating much more robust descrambling equipment today.

For the most component, a typical citizen who has an anti theft automobile locator program installed on it do not need to worry about their theft signal becoming scrambled simply because a great number of automobile thieves don't have any jamming devices in the first place. Rest assured, if you decide to participate within the anti theft vehicle program, your car is secure and will most likely be recovered. Your vehicle has a better opportunity of becoming recovered than it does in the event you don't have an automobile locator system installed. You'd be pleased to know that the businesses supplying you with this service do not put blatant messages on your car telling individuals that an anti theft device is installed.
