Things To Do With Your Mobile Phone

By Eric Townsend

Telecommunications have come quite a long way since the days of the phone booth and a pocketful of dimes and quarters. Nowadays, there is a global proliferation of handheld, pocket-sized cell phones. What's more, you can use it for myriad things, not just placing a call. With this in mind, let's explore a few a different things you can do with your mobile phone.

What you can do will depend upon what kind of unit you have. Smartphones as well as mini PC devices offer much more than a basic cell. And of course, because they so much more, they tend to cost more to purchase as does the service to use them.

One thing that just about everyone does is check their emails with their cells. This is handy if, say, you are away from home and cannot access your computer or laptop. Even the simpler cell devices may offer this to some extent.

Then of course there are text messages. Each year, tens of millions of these messages are sent all across the world. Almost every cellular device offers this function. Some service plans may charge extra for it, sometimes on a per text basis.

Another handy and popular application is the use of GPS. Advanced developments in software and hardware have made this not only possible, but pretty common. Anyone who is away from home and needs directions will not have to tote along their GPS device; they just need to turn on their cell.

Today there are thousands of applications available for mobile phones. They run from the entertaining to the practical. Both kids and adults can play video games on their cells. Moreover, they can watch sports highlights video clips on it. And of course, they can use it to place a call to their favorite restaurant for a reservation.
